DRAMA CLUB REMINDER
Just a reminder that the drama club's Tuesday group will not be meeting this week, because the art center is replacing their ceiling.  We will meet as usual (same time, same place) on Tuesday, February 16th.  The next meeting for Friday's group will be on February 19th, at the Portage Library (also as usual).
LIBRARY CELEBRATIONS

Portage Library Celebrates Friends and 100 Years
The Portage Lake District Library will host two special events in February that celebrate its place in the community.

On Saturday, February 13, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., Friends of the Portage Lake District Library will host an English Tea with classical harp musician John Manno performing during the event.

The Friends will present the new Children's Listening Center that was created with funds that were raised through its Music for Media events. Up to four children at a time will now be able to listen to a variety of audio books, music, and foreign language CDs during their visits to the library.

Information about the Friends will be available during the Tea, and people are encouraged to join the group. "Being a member of the Friends of the Library enables one to participate in the future and growth of the library," said Shawn Leche, Director of the library. "Not only do they raise money for the library, they bring quality to it."

The library also invites everyone to celebrate its 100th birthday on Thursday, February 18. Cake and ice cream will be served beginning at noon. A display of memorabilia will commemorate 100 years of community service which began on February 18, 1910 in what is now the Carnegie Museum. The museum and the library will co-host celebrations later in the spring that pay tribute to a century of great community service.

Library programs are free and open to all. For more information, please call the library at 482-4570 or visit www.pldl.org
