Homeschool Legal Advocacy

There are several concerns about governmental/legal actions and how they may affect homeschool laws in Michigan. Check out the following links for more information:

From Finlandia –

Hello Home School Families!

Hope you are enjoying the pre-winter weather.

I have dedicated myself to being active outside and enjoy the cool, fresh air. So far, my children and I have enjoyed sledding and making a mini snowman. We have also been feeding the birds. I hope to get out and re-discover snow-shoeing and cross country skiing. Plus, I remember one time in my childhood when my parents made a campfire after digging a hole in the snow and we roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. Good memories.

I am writing to inform you that a new semester will begin in January. There is still time for you and your students (Junior level or above) to register for one class or many.

Applying is online and absolutely free. www.finlandia.edu. Look for the "Apply Now!" banner at the top of the website or go to "Future Students" and find the application there. It takes approximately 15 minutes to fill out the application.

When asked who referred you to Finlandia, mention my name and I will then be assigned the wonderful task of acclimating you to the process, providing a campus tour if necessary, and helping you with any questions you might have either for yourself or your student. Students have taken one class or many. Some come seeking a degree; others come because they have that spark to be a lifelong learner. Whatever prompts you or your student to apply, I am glad you are keeping Finlandia University in mind.

If you have questions before you apply (or questions or comments of any kind about our university), please send me an email, call, and we can either talk via computer, telephone, or set up a visit for us to meet in person.

Enjoy the snowy season that is upon us. Be well.

From Val (Updates Coordinator):

On Tuesday (November 23rd), my daughter (Jessica) will be having surgery at the Twin Cities Shriners' Hospital. I will not be sending out regular "Updates" until the week FOLLOWING Thanksgiving. I will periodically check and should any really important information need to be passed along – I shall forward it through on my mobile.  Our family would appreciate it if you would keep Jessica in your thoughts and prayers that week.  Thank you.
