Gym Poll

Dear fellow homeschoolers,
As we considered how to make Gym Day useful to more families, we realized we needed more information. Please consider taking a few minutes to reply to this short poll regarding homeschool gym / recreation day. Your response will be a great help to us in planning activities that meet the needs of area homeschoolers like yourself. Please reply or email ccheupdates@gmail.com with "Gym Poll" in the subject. Thank you.

1. How often do you plan to participate in Gym Day? Weekly, Every Other Week, Monthly, Other.
2. Is Thursday afternoon 1:00 to 3:00 a good time for you? Would another day be better? Another time? Do you need to meet a bus at 3:00?
3. Would you prefer Gym Day to be age-specific, older children and teens meeting at a separate time from younger children and toddlers, or do you prefer keeping all ages together?
4. Would you rather have open swim at MTU than open gym? Or is there another venue that you think would work better?
5. The current cost of open gym is $2/child capping at $6/family paid directly to Finlandia. What seems to be a reasonable cost per child and per family for gym and for swim, and how often would you be willing to participate at that cost? (For example, perhaps you would want to swim every week for $3/child, but once a month for $12/child. Or maybe you think swimming is not worth paying more than gym. Or maybe family discount is of great importance to you.) Please try to give us specific parameters.
6. Is there anything else we should consider in planning a regular homeschool gym / recreation time?

Thank you for your help. We look forward to hearing from you.

Gluten-Free Recipe Exchange – Jan. 16th

Regular meetings of the Gluten-Free Recipe Exchange are held on the 3rd Monday of each month, September through May, from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Portage Lake District Library. The next meeting will be on January 16, and everyone is invited to participate.

Each month features a different type of food, and January's meeting will focus on gluten-free bread. Participants are welcome to bring a loaf of their favorite gluten-free bread for sampling and are encouraged to share their recipes. Copies of the recipes will be made at the library. Please list all ingredients used in making foods that are shared at these meetings and identify the brand names of the gluten-free ingredients.  Bringing food is not a requirement for attendance.

The Gluten-Free Recipe Exchange is organized by and for those who are interested in or required to follow a gluten-free diet. Gluten-free eating requires the avoidance of all wheat, rye, barley, and oats. Most people find it challenging at first, but are excited to find recipes and foods that are fun and easy to make and tasty to eat. The Gluten-Free Recipe Exchange is an opportunity to share those great recipes and learn from others. Everyone who is interested in learning more about gluten-free eating is encouraged to attend.

This program is free and open to all. For more information, please call a member of the group at 281-5216. You may also call the library at 482-4570 or visit www.pldl.org.
