Second Spring Session at MTU/SDC

**I apologize if you did not receive this notice last week. I've been getting reports of it not being received, so I suspect something went wrong with the original transmission. ~ Paula

Registration for the second spring session will begin Wednesday, February 25, at 8:00 am. You may register for programs on-line at http://www.aux.mtu.edu/rec/ by clicking on the "Online Registration" link or at the SDC Ticket Office. If you are taking advantage of any discounts such as TechFit, SDC Membership, or sibling discounts, you MUST register at the SDC Ticket Office. In our continuing effort to offer the best service and value, we would appreciate your opinion of the program(s) you or your child participated in during the past session. The information that emerges from your comments and suggestions will assist in identifying both positives and negatives in each program. As a result, we will strive to make adjustments to provide the best experience for you and your family.

Please take a moment to fill out our on-line survey at https://www.aux.mtu.edu/survey/public/survey.php?name=Community_Programs_2008. Feel free to make any additional comments that may be helpful in evaluating the program(s). If you would like to see a particular program or activity added, please let me know.
I may be contacted at (withheld for archive) if you have questions or concerns that need to be addressed personally.

Whats Happening at the Portage Lake District Library

Please join us for an Evening of Dr. Seuss celebrations on Monday, March 2, at 6:30 p.m. in the community room.

There will be readings of Hop on Pop, Green Eggs and Ham, The Sneeches, The Lorax, and more! Crafts and delicious desserts will be served up as part of the fun. All this is being presented by an MTU student organization.

Portage Library Offers Program on Houseplants

The Portage Lake District Library will offer the third program of its gardening through the winter series.

Master Gardener Lynn Watson will present "Houseplant Happiness" on Tuesday, March 3, at 7:00 p.m. in the community room.

Watson will explain the proper selection, care, and rescue of houseplants. "Houseplant happiness depends on all three," she explained. Watson will have a variety of plants to demonstrate and explain dormancy, repotting, what kinds of plants go where, why is my plant sick, and how can I make it feel better.

She will also explain how indoor plants absorb toxins, add oxygen and humidity to the air, relax mental stress levels, reduce home and office noise, and show how green environments have 50% - 60 % fewer airborne molds and bacteria in them.

Watson is also the owner of Interiorscapes, a company devoted to professionally helping homes and offices welcome healthy green plants into their living and work environments.

There will be handouts and all plant enthusiasts are invited.

This event is free and open to all.
