Mother's Helper Wanted
I wanted to send out a message to CCHE members again asking if there are any homeschoolers who either live within walking distance of me ((withheld for archive)) or who have their own transport and would be interested in earning some money and childcare experience as a mother's helper. The work would involve watching my two-year-son for up to two hours at a time while I get other things done around the house. It's not too difficult to get babysitters for the evening, but I often need help with childcare during the day, when school students are unavailable. If anyone is interested, they can contact me at
Thanks,

Workshop Offered by One of Our Own Homeschoolers!

Free Computer Classes Offered at Portage Library

Robby (withheld for archive) of Houghton invites beginners and those with some computer experience to "Get Control of Your PC" and participate in his series of free instructional computer classes at the Portage Lake District Library. Robbie is offering this course to the community as his Eagle Scout project and all are invited to attend.

Robbie will present "Surfing in the U.P.," which is a project designed to provide local communities with basic computer knowledge including email, internet browsing, data management, Office programs such as Word and Excel, and music and video management.

The workshops are incremental, and by attending all four sessions participants will know enough to explore on their own on a computer. Limited computers will be provided to practice on, and participants may bring their own laptop.

Classes will take place in the library's community room and the schedule is as follows:

April 15, 7 – 9 p.m.

Complete beginner's course: learn computers from scratch.

April 24, 7 – 9 p.m.

Exploring your PC: programs, settings, and data management.

April 25, 1 – 4 p.m.

Learn how to surf the internet: e-mail, browsing, and safety.

April 30, 6 – 9 p.m.

Multimedia: get the most out of your computing experience.

Everyone is invited to attend library events and presentations are free.
