-Vacation Bible School

Our church in Calumet is having Bible School in August and would like to get the word out to families interested. I've attached a flyer and registration form (may register online, too). You may find out more about our church at this website: www.gracechristiancalumet.com. Would you pass this information along to families in your group?

Thanks

Gyngr McGee

Portage Library Hosts More Summer Programs
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Portage Lake District Library continues to host summer programs and encourages everyone to "Be Creative at Your Library."
Master Gardener and Michigan Technological University Head Gardener Lynn (withheld for archive) will present "Problem Solvers for Your Summer Garden" on Tuesday, July 14, at 7:00 p.m. in the community room.
"Unhappy leaves tell a story," Watson explained. She will discuss weeds, insects, furry pests, disease, fungus, and bacteria that may be harming your vegetable and flower gardens and suggest ways to control the problems. Watson will also discuss when and how to water and explain why fertilizing now, not later, will give gardeners more bloom and produce for their efforts.
Participants will have time to ask questions and handouts will be available.
Librarian and crafter Rachele (withheld for archive) will teach "Crochet 101" on Monday, July 20, at 6:30 p.m. This beginning class will teach the joys and benefits of crocheting, explain the difference between crocheting and knitting, discuss tools, yarns, how to read a pattern, and teach crochet lingo. Stitches taught will be the foundation chain, single crochet, double crochet, and finishing off. A short project is planned that participants may take home.
If participants have their own supplies from UFO's (Un-Finished Objects), Grandma's attic, or from when they thought they could teach themselves, please bring them. If not, there will be supplies provided. "Come and join the crochet adventure," Lambert said, "and learn a fun, creative craft for a lifetime."
Children are invited to Storytime every Monday with Maria (withheld for archive) and alternating Wednesdays with the Houghton High School Key Club from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. These programs include stories and a project.
All library programs are free and everyone is invited to attend. For more information, please call the library at 482-4570 or visit www.pldl.org
