FUTURE HISTORIANS
Hello All:
Our last regularly scheduled meeting is next Tuesday, April 20 at 7PM. Please see attached.
Role playing registration will take place at this meeting - cost is $15.00 per student.
As a reminder, summer role playing dates at Fort Wilkins, Copper Harbor are as follows:
July 14-16; July 27-29 (Battery D weekend); August 4-6; and August 18-20.
As always, if anyone has questions feel free to call or email.

    Musician"

 Join the Union Army! Defeat Slavery! Support President Lincoln! Join Union Army Sergeant Michael Deren as he transports you back in time to April 1, 1865, just eight days before the end of the Civil War. Sergeant Deren will present an historical, musical, educational and participative journey to a time of great conflict in our country. March! Drill! Sing Patriotic Songs! Be prepared for a fun, entertaining and audience-involved evening.

Michigan Iron Industry Museum, 73 Forge Road, Negaunee Township

      As a reminder, students who want to participate in the
      summer role playing program must attend at least 3 monthly meetings
      Summer role playing registration will take place at this meeting.
      Registration fee is $15.00 per student – payable by cash or check.

ORIGAMI STORYTIME AT LIBRARY
 I apologize for sending this out so late, but I'm hoping you can get this information to your families today or tomorrow.
There will be a fantastic Origami Storytime at the Portage Lake District Library this Saturday, April 17, from 11:00 - 12:00. It will be presented by Sandy (withheld for archive).
She will read stories about origami and lead kids through the steps of making a project to take home.
Younger kids will decorate pre-made origami figures and older kids will learn the ancient art of paper folding.

INCH HOME EDUCATION CONVENTION
Remember Pre-registration is only open until May 1!  After that you'll have to register at-the-door and pay increased rates.  So if you're planning to attend this year's convention, you'll want to go to inch.org and register soon.  Be sure to check out the complete listing of workshops and the workshop schedule-- now posted online!  Hope it works for you to join us for the 27th Annual Michigan Home Education Convention
FOURTH THURSDAY IN HISTORY:

The Local History Smackdown is Upon Us!
Get ready for the eighth annual High School Local History Smackdown! On
Thursday April 22nd, come to the Calumet Theatre and keep score as 15 teams
of high school students from the four-county area demonstrate their
knowledge of the Copper Country's rich history. Which team will be the last
one standing and take home the trophy?
The Smackdown will take place at the historic Calumet Theatre, located at
340 Sixth Street in Calumet, at 7:00 pm on Thursday April 22nd, 2010. The
event is free and open to the public.
