LIBRARY PROGRAMS
The Portage Lake District Library is the site of the Silent Auction to support The Tree House Indoor Playground that is being built by the Keweenaw Family Resource Center.
On Saturday, November 28, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., bids will be taken throughout the day on almost 90 baskets of high quality items for men, women, and children. Items being auctioned include restaurant gift certificates, jewelry, sunglasses, a skateboard, a remote car starter, an American Girl doll, toys, food, books, and more. To see photos of items that will be auctioned, go to http://houghtonwinterpark.blogspot.com.The Tree House Indoor Playground is taking shape in the Red Ridge Plaza on Sharon Avenue in Houghton. Although construction is moving along, more funds need to be raised to pay for some of the play fixtures. On Saturday, December 5, the Portage Lake District Library will host a Holiday Storytime at 2:00 p.m. as part of the Downtown Houghton Holiday schedule of events. All children are invited to come and listen to winter tales and take home a holiday treat.
