Art Co-Op - ages 4-8

Subject: art co-op
To:

Hi!
I am writing to determine the interest level in an ART co-op for children ages 4ish to 8ish. I've spoken to Haley Frederickson who is very interested in performing the role of instructor. She is a qualified graphic artist, a potential home school mom and is currently the MOPS creative activities extraordinaire at Evangel. My thought in this would be that Haley would be paid for her time (prep and instructional) and then, while she would procure materials, we would pay for them per project per child.
Other thoughts on how this would work:
*For all, but the oldest children, this would not be a drop-off activity. Moms would stay to help and supervise their own child/children.
*Activities would be things that the average mom would not think of/have time to do with her children at home.
*Frequency would be 1x/month, preferably mornings to accomodate tiring little ones.
So: I have yet to procure a large, "art friendly" space. Depending on the amount of children, we could begin by meeting at my home. If any of you who might be interested have any great ideas, I'd be interested in hearing them.
That's my proposal. I'll be eagerly awaiting any and all replies. :) Please forward this to anyone who you think might be interested.
Thanks-
Andrea

Scholastic Books

I will be getting some catalogs from Scholastic books (they usually have very good prices on books, sometimes only $1.00). If you'd like to get books from them (or just to look at what books they have, you don't have to order), I can get you some catalogs when they arrive. There will be no shipping charges or taxes.

I'll be getting the following catalogs:

Honeybee (Toddlers to Fours)
Firefly (Preschool)
SeeSaw (Grade K-1)
Lucky (Grade 2-3)
Arrow (Grad 4,5,6)
TAB (Grade 7 and up)

Thanks and let me know if you have any questions,

"A Harpo" presentation at the Portage Lake District Library this Monday evening.

On Monday, October 27, at 6:30 p.m., the young and young at heart will be treated to an original Vaudeville style performance by singer and composer Ariel in "A Harpo."

The show is based on the original Vaudeville and Broadway Theatre entertainer Harpo Marx (1893 – 1964). Ariel invites audience participation as the history of the famous performer is explained and demonstrated through skits, costumes, props, and live harp music. A short video scene from an original Harpo movie will also be shown, and participants may play the harp after the presentation.

Ariel wrote this family friendly act and performed it at the Calumet Theatre Vaudeville event for six weeks. She has appeared at various community events, fairs, parades, fundraisers, nursing homes, grand openings, and private events. This interactive program is for the fun loving of all ages.

Everyone is invited to attend library events and presentations are free.
