--Overnight at Fort Wilkins

Barry James from the Iron Industry Museum has been talking to me about the possibility of getting a group of students together for an overnight at Fort Wilkins (located in Copper Harbor). I have attached the flyer.

Thanks so much,
(withheld for archive)

U.P. Home Schoolers,

Barry James from the Iron Industry Museum has offered U.P. home schoolers a unique and exciting opportunity to participate in an overnight at Fort Wilkins (located in Copper Harbor).

For those unfamiliar with Fort Wilkins...here are a couple websites where you can read more about it...
http://www.michigan.gov/hal/0,1607,7-160-17447_18595_18604---,00.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Wilkins_Historic_State_Park

Mr. James would like to do the Program/Overnight at the end of September or beginning of October. He said we could do a Friday night stay or even a Saturday night stay. One date will be chosen and possible dates for our group are: Sept. 26th, Oct. 3rd or Oct. 10. Parents are welcome to stay and participate.

The cost of the overnight and program will be $50.00 per child - grades 3 and up. SEE ATTACHED FLYER FOR MORE INFORMATION.

This is a GREAT experience for the kids to actually EXPERIENCE what life would be like in 1870! My kids (Sally & Anna Major) are involved in the Future Historian program at the Iron Industry Museum and we always have a SUPER time at Fort Wilkins every summer learning about U.P. pioneers and soldier life at the Fort.
